After being a bit missing in action this summer, I thought that joining a design contest just might be the jump start my mojo needs! So, I entered the Designer Apprentice competition at DSA.

For Week 1, our challenge was to extract two items and then use them in a mini-kit. Of course, my scanner is not working right now, so I photographed some silk flowers and extracted them to make the layered flowers for my kit. I’ve been wanting to make a carnival themed kit for some time now. This seemed like the perfect opportunity, so I bring to you… “Summer Fair.”

It is free for download on the DSA website for a limited time, so snag it while you can! I hope you enjoy it (and wish me luck on the contest! The winner gets some awesome prizes!)

Happy scrapping!

Where in the world did January disappear to? I blinked and it was February!

How is the weather in your neck of the woods? We’ve been fortunate enough to get missed by most of the crazy storms out there. We’ve mainly been getting rain and some ice. We did have one decent snowfall last week, but I would love to see at least one more nice big snow this winter.

Well, if you’ve been cooped up in your home and are looking for something to help beat the blahs, come back Friday to check out my newest release, “Floral Fancy.” Here’s a peek:

Also, I’ve got my part of the February Blog Train for you. I hope you enjoy it! The preview is linked to 4shared for you.

This week’s challenge at Stuff to Scrap was to create a mini-kit using a picture of a quilt made by Deanna as inspiration. I looked at the pics she gave us and thought for a long time. Then, I made a list of all the things that came to mind when I examined the quilt. The list included ideas such as farms, outdoors, playgrounds, tea parties, birthdays, pets, dinosaurs, even boo-boos, lol. I wanted my kit to be original, and I know there really aren’t enough “boy” kits out there, so I decided to do a dinosaur kit!

I hand-drew the dinosaurs using my new Bamboo pen tablet and made my own frames using wood textures that I had photographed and glitter that I created. I really like this kit and plan to add to it and turn it into a full-size kit when this competition is done! Click the preview to get the download links from the Stuff to Scrap forum, then scroll down for a quick page freebie that I made using my kit. Be sure to stop by Stuff to Scrap on Friday and Saturday to vote for me! Thanks and I hope you are enjoying the freebies!

And here is the QP freebie. Click the preview to download from 4Shared.

Happy Scrapping!
